The Ultimate Pupper Momma
Meet Winston (Big Pupper) and Marvin (Little Pupper)! Winston is 10 months old and Marvin is 3 Months old! They are Mini American Eskimo's and just so happen to be the happiest, most loving pups I've ever met. These boys are the light of my life and I would go above and beyond for them.
What are some of the things I do to keep my boys happy?? Well let's see...
1. I feed them great food.
These boys are constantly eating, a healthy amount that is, they are growing all the time. They love the flavor of their kibble and the size makes it easier for their tiny teeth to munch on.
This Royal Canin Mini Puppy food is perfect for puppies up to 10 months old and between 9 - 22 lbs. It has an intensified energy content to help support higher energy needs, and it also helps reduce the formation of Tarter!
2. Exercise
I make sure to always find some way to keep the pups active. Whether that be a walk, running around the house, playing with a ball, or the both of them just playing with each other in the back patio area! Some of their favorite things are squeaky balls, stuffed toys (that they enjoy shredding into a million pieces), and raw hides. (I actually try to stay away from the raw hides because it tends to mess with their tummies and I hate putting them through that!)
They like to eat their food out of the Kong Wobbler, it has the hole in the front so they will tip it over with their paw, food spills onto the floor and then they eat it up! The Kong fox toy lasted longer than most but they still managed to destroy it and dig out all the sqeakers! Finally, the deer antlers are one of their FAVORITE's! They will stop everything to munch down on some antlers and yes they are very safe for their teeth and to digest!
3. Training
So the boys are pretty well behaved, all dogs have their moments but they are VERY well behaved most of the time. You have to have patience for all animals so when training!!
Winston; Winston actually went through a program at 5 months old called "Prison Paws", it's a program here in Billings at the women's prison. For a fee your pup will be assigned to an inmate who is professionally trained to train your dog basic obedience (sit, walk without pulling, lay down, no jumping, watch owner for commands, walk without getting distracted, etc.). This program is absolutely wonderful and worth every dime. As long as you stick with the commands and make sure to practice what they were taught then you will one obedient pup!
Marvin; With Marvin still being so young he hasn't gone through Prison Paws and with his personality being so different he's already super obedient. Marvin can sit, shake, partially lay down, and walk without pulling. We are still working on the potty training and are a little behind but with a little patients and hard work he will be there in no time!
With training you also must remember to award when they do do something right and to always let them know that they did a good job!
4. Bonding
Bonding with your pet is just like bonding with a baby, especially puppies. They depend on you and how you take care of them. Trust. Your dog has to trust you or there won't be any kind of bond at all and this often doesn't end well for the dogs. My bond with Winston is definitely much stronger than it is with Marvin. Winston was my baby from day one, the moment he stepped into her forever home with Matthew and I was the moment he became my best friend. My nugget follows me into every room, into my car, finds me when I'm upstairs, and waits for me to get home every single night to greet me with some excited tinkles and lots of smooches.
Marvin has a stronger bond with Matt, this pup does everything he can to be right next to Matt all the time. He cries when Matt leaves for work or the gym, and waits and runs around until Matt comes back. But the absolute BEST bond in our home is the one that the dogs have with each other. The pups could not be apart from each other for more than a few minutes, wherever Winston goes then Marvin must go to. Having both of them together is when they are the most happy. It's hard sometimes but worth it at the end of the day knowing that my pups are never alone.
Thank you so much for reading and I would love to hear from you guys! What are your thoughts on keeping your pups happy and healthy???
